Barangay Filipino in New England’s goals are to:

• Create an online community for Filipinos in the region;
• Promote Filipino activities and inform visitors coming to the region of events and other useful information; and
• Promote Filipino businesses in the region.

A "barangay" (Tagalog: baranggay), also known by its former name, the barrio, is the smallest local government unit in the Philippines and is the native Filipino term for a village, district or ward. Barangay Filipino in New England encourages all Filipinos in the region, or individuals who are interested, to participate and be involved. An online feature "Chat" is available. "User Groups" and "Forums" are currently being developed. These features will enable interested groups to focus on and discuss a particular topic.
